Lin Yu-shan was born in Chiayi, Taiwan. He is considered one of the icons of modern art. Known for his Eastern Gouache paintings and ink wash paintings. Many of his works pay special attention to Taiwan's local culture.
This charming bookmark is taken from the "Lotus Pond", which was painted in 1930, depicting the most beautiful moments of sunlight, lending its golden hues to the pond water at dawn on Mount Niuchou in the northern suburb of Chiayi City. Lin used light gold paint to accent the lotus blossom, giving the painting a sense of warmth and spirituality.
